The only way to win poker is to bet – and the only way to win a lot is to bet. Poker is a game of timed and concentrated aggression.
Once you’ve mastered the basics of the game, you also know when to use a more aggressive poker strategy at the table.
Many inexperienced players are too cautious for too long. They check if they should bet and only go with if they should raise.
If you get a good hand, for example, high pairs or a hand from AK or AQ, you should play more aggressively than you might think. These are excellent maps in the beginning.
Therefore, in a full-table game, you must make sure that players with lower cards are eliminated – or force them to pay to stay in the game.
There is nothing worse than downplaying a pair of kings just to be beaten by someone with 8-4 who checked before the flop and miraculously got a straight.
Have everyone pay to see these cards and drive them out of the pot as many and as early as possible.
